Appcelerator Announces Integration With Box

Integration Brings Box Connector to Arrow, Appcelerator’s New API Framework, & Allows Developers to Integrate Enterprise-Grade Data Into Any Mobile App

San Francisco, CA – April 22, 2015 – Appcelerator® today announced an integration with Box that allows developers to integrate Box data and security into Appcelerator Platform apps. Developers will now have access to a Box connector within Appcelerator Arrow, the new opinionated framework for building and running mobile-optimized APIs, allowing them to deliver richer and more engaging mobile experiences. The integration was announced in a keynote presentation at Box’s premier developer conference in San Francisco, Box Dev.

One of the largest challenges mobile developers face is the costly process of connecting to and orchestrating data from a wide range of backend sources. Connectors within Arrow allow mobile app developers to quickly mobilize data from a wide variety of external sources. The new Box connector enables developers to integrate Box data into and out of any Appcelerator mobile app, streamlining access to the widely used Box service and resulting in a richer, more dynamic user experience. With the Box connector, enterprises using Appcelerator-powered apps gain seamless access to all of their Box data without having to leave the app.

“With over 100,000 Appcelerator-powered mobile apps deployed by more than 700,000 developers, and millions of Box users, this partnership allows developers to really tap into the data required of today’s enterprise-grade mobile tools,” said Jeff Haynie, CEO of Appcelerator. “Integrating Box with our mobile apps expands the possibilities for developers and gives them more opportunities to bring to market the types of data-rich, engaging mobile experiences required of businesses in the post-Web world.”

Arrow, part of the new Appcelerator Platform, consists of two primary components, Builder and Cloud. Arrow Builder represents a next-generation version of the company’s API Builder, enabling developers to rapidly assemble APIs, data models and data connectors programmatically or through a visual wizard. Arrow Cloud delivers an instant, elastically scalable cloud service for running APIs and analyzing their use, as well as full support for rich push notifications and ArrowDB, a new schema-less data store. Arrow built APIs can be accessed by both Appcelerator built Apps as well as Apps built in the native tool chains.

“At Box, we’re focused on powering a thriving ecosystem of developers to build products that transform the enterprise,” said Chris Yeh, senior vice president of product and platform at Box. “We’re thrilled to welcome new partners to the Box ecosystem and introduce new tools that make it incredibly easy to integrate on the Box platform and extend the value of our service to companies around the world.”
