Silicon Valley Gives Back through “Hack to Help” Hackathon

CODESTRONG will kick off with an all-night “Hack to Help” Hackathon on Sunday, October 21st.  Hack to Help participants will form 12 teams, and each team will be matched with a charity.  The teams will code throughout the night to create mobile apps that leverage the power of mobile to accelerate their fundraising efforts.

Initial charities include The Avril Lavigne Foundation, Mercy Corps, Special Olympics, and Stop Hunger Now.

“I am very excited that my fans will have the opportunity to give back from the convenience of their mobile phones!” said Avril Lavigne, Founder and President of the Avril Lavigne Foundation.  “I think an app will be a great way for them to help make a difference and to follow all the great things we do for sick or disabled children and youth. I am very grateful to all of the developers who are participating in Appcelerator’s Hack to Help and I can’t wait to see the final results!”
